The Alberta Neurofibromatosis Association would like to invite you to participate in our second annual Golf Tournament – Swinging For Kids.
The Alberta NF group is a registered charitable organization and is run completely by volunteers.Our mission is to support families and individuals affected by Neurofibromatosis, or ‘NF’ as it is commonly known.NF is a genetic disorder that causes tumors to grow along the nerves of the body as well as the skin.Over 10,000 Canadians are affected by NF which can be both disfiguring and debilitating.Learning disabilities are present in about 50% of cases.Other symptoms can include blindness, deafness and bone deformity.There is no known cure, but thanks to recent research efforts, scientists have discovered the NF gene and are beginning to unravel the mysteries of this complex disorder.
NF is one of the most common genetic disorders and is more common than inherited Muscular Dystrophy, Tay-Sachs and Huntington’s disease combined.Currently only $32 research dollars are being spent per individual who has NF compared to $2,367 for Cystic Fibrosis, $2,627 for Huntington’s disease and $290 for Muscular Dystrophy.So as you can see we desperately need to raise more money for NF research.
You no doubt already support other worthy causes.We would be so grateful if support for our event could be included as well.We are offering a variety of sponsorship packages, as well as looking for prize donations and silent auction items.No item is too small, every little bit helps us get one step closer to our goals of supporting everyone affected by NF and especially helping research find a cure for our children.

Donation and Sponsorship Packages
In order to make this charity event a success we need businesses/individuals to sponsor holes, provide services such as food, prizes for golfers and items for a silent auction.Hole sponsorship forms must be submitted by August 9th and all golfers’ information by August 23rd, 2009.
We are looking for donations to buy our top teams prizes such as golf bags and rounds of golf at Carstairs Golf Club.We are also looking for prizes of any type for our tournament.Do you have golf shirts, golf balls or duffle bags?Do you have a special company promotional item such as a gift certificate?If you are interested in donating a prize, please indicate this on the sponsor form.You will receive the following:

Silent Auction
We are looking for items to be donated for our silent auction.Any items or gift certificates that you wish to donated would be appreciated.Or donate cash and we will take care of buying a silent auction item on your behalf.
Items donated will have your company name displayed on the auction sheet.

Your company can simply donate a financial gift to the work of the Alberta Neurofibromatosis Association or sponsor a golfer to attend the tournament.
